It doesn’t seem long ago that we ironed the labels in the new uniforms, photographed our children on the front step for the honourary back to school photo and tearily waved them into their new classes (ok maybe just a semi tear before we were reminded what it’s like to have 2 seconds of silence). How did we get to half term already?!
If you’re like me, you’d like at least a day at home to chill out and tackle the to do pile but by 4pm regretting that decision when the kidlets are climbing the walls.
We’re spoilt for choice for things to do in South London but in case you need some inspiration (i.e. you’ve left it to the last minute also like me?!), here are some ideas we’ve come across:
Mama.codes half term workshops across London in Herne Hill, Dulwich, Peckham, Tooting, Finchley, Kensington and Chiswick and in Kent, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire - coding fun for ages 3-8
get the family out for a walk on the Peckham History Trail - part of Peckham Townscape Heritage Initiative community projects
Walk from Croydon to Wandsworth or a portion of it along the scenic Wandle Trail. It follows the Wandle River and goes through some lovely parks. With a stop for lunch the kids can manage a good chunk of it
Horniman Museum Halloween Fair - Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October with creepy crawlies, spooky storytelling, parade, Halloween trail, face painting and balloons, tea cups and bouncy castle arts and crafts market and food stalls
Halloween themed activities at the Dulwich Picture Gallery including Make a Monster, Grotesque and Gory Stories
And my favourite autumn activity…a walk in Dulwich Woods (one of my favourite photo shoot venues!) starting at Cox’s Walk in East Dulwich and stopping midway at The Wood House in Dulwich for a bite and definitely a refreshment
